What it is
A solar CCTV camera combines a weatherproof HD or 4K camera, a rechargeable battery and its own solar panel in a single unit. The panel keeps the battery topped up through daylight — including the diffuse light of a British winter — so the camera runs continuously without a mains connection or an electrician.
Footage records to a local SD card or NVR, or to the cloud, with PIR motion detection, colour night vision and two-way audio. Where there's WiFi it connects over your network; where there isn't — most farms, paddocks and remote compounds — it signals over 4G with a SIM, so you still get live view and alerts on your phone.

Do solar CCTV cameras really work through a UK winter?
Yes. Solar cameras charge from daylight, not direct sunshine, so they keep working on grey, overcast days. We size the panel and battery to your location and camera workload with enough headroom to run through the short, dull days of a British winter — that sizing is exactly what separates a professionally installed system from an undersized DIY kit.
What happens at night or on cloudy days?
The battery carries the camera overnight and through cloudy spells, recharging whenever there's daylight. Correctly specified systems hold several days of reserve, so a run of dark weather doesn't take the camera offline.
Do I need WiFi or broadband?
No. Where there's WiFi the camera uses it; where there isn't, a 4G model with a SIM sends live view and motion alerts to your phone over the mobile network. That is the whole point for remote and rural sites — no broadband required.
Is the footage stored securely?
Footage is held on encrypted local storage (SD/NVR) and/or an encrypted cloud account, accessible only through your app login. We set this up and hand it over during installation.
