4G Solar Camera Towers
What it is
A 4G solar camera tower is a self-contained, relocatable mast. It carries several cameras, a solar array and a battery bank. It uploads over 4G and runs AI-based motion detection. It can also include floodlights and a speaker for a live or automated audio challenge, which makes a highly visible deterrent.
There are no groundworks, no mains and no standing generator burning fuel. Therefore, a tower can go in position within hours and move again as the site changes. For construction and land security that shifts week to week, that flexibility is the main appeal.
In practice
Towers cost more than a single camera, so compare the options first. Our comparison of solar CCTV and mains-wired CCTV sets out the trade-offs. For budget planning, read our guide to solar CCTV installation cost in the UK.
Rules matter on any site. The Planning Portal says planning permission is not normally required for CCTV on a house in England. A tower on open land may need different checks, however. Our guide to planning permission for solar CCTV explains what to check first.
Signal is the other key point. Ofcom reports that 4G from at least one operator covers 96% of the UK's land, but not every field. Specifically, we check signal at the survey before we recommend a tower.
We cover rural and border areas as well as cities. See solar CCTV installation in Shrewsbury, solar CCTV installation in Carlisle and solar CCTV installation in Hereford. Towers are most popular on construction sites.
Where it fits
- Construction sites and plant or material compounds
- Events, festivals and temporary car parks
- Fly-tipping and trespass hotspots
- Land under development or awaiting planning
Why it works
- Deployed in hours with no groundworks or cabling
- No generator, so no fuel cost or refuelling visits
- Relocatable as the site layout evolves
- AI detection with floodlights and audio challenge
- Remote and monitored viewing over 4G, wherever the site is
4G Solar Camera Towers — common questions
How quickly can a tower be deployed?
Usually within hours of arriving on site. There are no foundations to pour and no power to connect. The tower is positioned, levelled and powered up from its own solar and battery. It then streams over 4G the same day.
Does a tower need any power or connection on site?
No. A solar tower makes its own power and signals over 4G. It therefore works on bare land with no mains, no broadband and no generator.
Can towers be monitored or moved?
Both. Towers stream to a monitoring centre or to your own app. Because they are self-contained, you can relocate them across the site, or to the next site, as your needs change.
