Solar CCTV installation in Lincoln gives farms, building plots and country homes a way to watch their ground without mains power. The cameras charge themselves, while alerts travel over the mobile network. We supply and fit them in Lincolnshire as part of our coverage of England, Scotland and Wales.
Lincoln is a district of 103,351 people, based on the ONS mid-2025 estimate. The county around it is much larger. As a result, many sites sit a long way from a power point.
Why off-grid security suits Lincolnshire
Wired CCTV depends on a cable, and cables are costly over distance. A shed at the far side of a field might need hundreds of metres of trench. However, a solar camera needs only a pole, a bracket and a clear view.
Our comparison of solar CCTV and mains-wired CCTV sets out the trade-offs in plain terms. Wired systems can suit a site that already has power on every wall. However, solar wins where power is thin, far away or easy to cut.
Flat or open ground can give long sight lines. A camera on a tall post can watch a gate, a track and a barn at once, so placement matters more than camera count. For that reason a few well-placed units often do more than many cheap ones.
The local crime picture
Lincolnshire Police formed a Rural Crime Action Team in December 2021. According to the force’s announcement, it targets hare coursing, theft from farms, lead theft and fly-tipping. As a result, the team has a wide brief across a large county.
The national figures add context. NFU Mutual’s 2026 Rural Crime Report gives an estimated UK cost of £41.5m for rural crime in 2025. Thefts of agricultural vehicles reached about £8.3m, up 18%. In particular, quad bikes and ATVs cost about £3.5m, up 31%.
We hold no Lincolnshire-only cost figure, so we do not quote one. Still, the lesson holds for any holding: vehicles and quads are valuable and easy to move. A camera that records a visit gives police something to work with, because a clear clip is stronger evidence than a description.
The Lincolnshire Wolds cover 558 km2, and most of the area was designated an AONB in 1973. Farms and cottages in a landscape like this can sit well away from the road. Therefore remote cameras and alarms are worth considering there.
Which solution fits which property
Farms with several buildings do well with towers, since one mast can watch many doors. 4G solar camera towers lift cameras on a mast and carry their own power. See our farms and agriculture sector page for how we plan cover around yards and stores.
Smaller jobs suit a kit. Wireless solar security kits work on a fence post, a gable or a shed wall. They suit cottages, paddocks and lock-ups, since there is no wiring to run.
Building plots are another fit, because tools, plant and materials sit unguarded overnight. Police-force figures reported by Insight DIY counted 30,848 tool-theft offences in 2025, up 16%. Our guide to construction site solar CCTV towers explains how a mobile tower protects a site like that.
Winter and connectivity
Winter is still the usual worry. PVGIS, the European Commission’s solar tool, estimates London’s December sunlight at about 13% of June’s. Our guide on whether solar CCTV cameras work in winter explains how we size for that gap.
Signal is the other check. Ofcom’s Connected Nations 2025 report says 4G from at least one operator reaches 96% of the UK’s landmass. Nevertheless, a low spot in a field can be a not-spot. We test the exact mounting point first, and we say so plainly if a site needs a different approach, for example an alarm with a local siren instead of a camera.
How a survey and fixed quote work
You begin by sending a request through the contact form. Say what you want to protect and where it is. We cover the whole country, yet we have no base in Lincoln.
We then survey the site, looking at sun, shade, mounting points, signal and the view each camera needs. You receive a fixed quote after the survey. That way you know the cost before work starts.
