Where to mount the SolarMate Secure 1

Although the unit is weatherproof, it has not been designed to take the full force of nature. We recommend when positioning the light unit, try to protect it from the elements as much as possible, preferably under a roof overhang etc.

Position the solar panel south facing and tilted at an angle so as much sun as possible can be absorbed by the panel.

SolarMate Secure 1 Installation

Light Unit
When deciding where to mount the light unit, keep in mind that the motion sensor which activates the light has a field of vision of between 0.5m (2ft) and 10m (33ft) in front of the light and about 120 degrees horizontally (see image below).
Mount the security light to the wall using the supplied screws.

Solar Panel
The solar panel is the power source for the SolarMate security light. It converts the sun’s energy into electricity that charges the battery stored in the light unit.

Mount the solar panel onto a solid surface using the supplied screws. The solar panel must be within 6ft of the light unit due to the length of the cable.
Plug the cable from the solar panel into the security light.
