With the recent outbreak of violence on our streets people are feeling more vulnerable than ever.
The recent riots, looting and general violence had gained tremendous momentum in a very short space of time. Partially blamed for the speed of events across the country was the use of new technology in the form of Twitter, Facebook and BBM (Blackberry Messenger), but thanks to a fight back from the police and local communities these disturbances have thankfully all but disappeared.
Although Twitter has been blamed for much of the problems with youngsters using it to arrange where to meet and what to do, it has fought back by setting up a group whereby people can arrange to meet and clear up their streets. This has created a great sense of community amongst people in urban areas around the UK by joining strangers in the battle against these criminals. These strangers all have one thing in common, standing up for what they believe is right, showing these thugs and looters that the public won’t allow their behaviour in their towns.
There are plenty of great CCTV images of the troublemakers. Please take a minute to look through the CCTV stills them and if you recognise anybody report it to the police or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Also, if you know of anyone who has got the stolen property or may be bragging about what they got from the looting please inform the police.

It only takes a few minutes but could really help keep your community safe.
